About Catherine Ludwig Donleycott
Born in the Bronx at the beginning of WWII, Catherine grew up on Army bases in the South and on the beaches of Breezy Point, Long Island, New York. At the age of seven--euphoric after drawing an elephant in school--while walking home, she decided to become an artist...just like her mom
From 1972 to 1982, Catherine studied painting at the Palette Gallery in Cary, NC, and Architectural Technology at Wake Tech, as well as showed and sold her work.
In 1983, when she interviewed at the NC State School of Design, Dean Claude McKinney told her, 'You are already doing work that many of our students will not even be able to do when they graduate. You just need to get a job. If you want to get a degree, get it in something else.' So she did.
In 1988, Catherine graduated from NC State University with her two daughters and a BA in English. For thirty (30) years, Catherine worked as a marketing, public relations, technical and medical writer and designer in the software, pharmaceutical, and education industries. She used her creative intuition, psychology education, training, and experience to analyze, design, write, and edit documentation, processes, procedures, standards, and websites.
Now, she has resumed her career as an artist. Selected for juried shows and purchase awards, Catherine's paintings are included in numerous public and private collections.
