Description
The Yellow House is a restored historic mansion and restaurant and gift shop on Main Street in Clayton, North Carolina. Originally called the Wagner House. John Wesley Massey, a Southern Railway station master, built the house in 1912 on land his wife Lula inherited from her family, which owned Thurston Freight Co. There's lots of stories about the house, including a tale about Union soldiers camping there during the Civil War.
Commissioned to do one (1) watercolor, I eventually completed three (3) versions and the owners bought all three (3). This is the Spring version with the white and some pink crepe myrtles in bloom. Hand-painted on 22 X 30 300 lb. deckled edge Arches Cold-pressed watercolor paper using Windsor and Newton professional watercolor paints.
